Sonic Fabric/Alyce Santoro @ Knit/Hack/Craft Exhibition

OM sonic fabric necktie The era of cassette tapes have long gone by with many a fond memory of them, (and the frustration of scrambled tapes…), making mix tapes, swapping them and listening to them on our walkman.  What happens to the tapes no longer in use? Sonic Fabric is what happens! Alyce Santoro uses cassette tapes to weave these amazing fabrics by professional family run weaving mills and with many different textures and thicknesses and turns them into tyes and other wearable textiles. We will show this amazing fabric at our knit/hack/craft exhibition! (I kind of wish we could do a workshop with this. It would be so much fun to weave our old favourite mix tapes and wear them!)
